Why Marry?

Life generally is good. However, because humans are interdependent, life can be said to be sweeter when shared with a loved one. Human nature craves companionship and God answered that human question as Scripture says: "And the Lord said, it is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him....., therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife (woman): and they shall be one flesh" - Genesis 2:18-25. Having said that, the natural progression includes a time of singlehood which progresses to a period of married life. I acknowledge though that not everyone follows this sequence.

Without doubt life gets sweeter when shared with someone of like mind. I must emphasis that marriage is not a competition or total answer to happiness. But from my experience, I will say that marriage is good and very useful. A word of warning though: if you are planning to get married one day bear in mind that marriage is not just about pursuing your personal happiness but about answering God's call and helping your future spouse find fulfilment also. Marriage is fun but has challenges and humps. A lot of people have been frustrated because their idea of marriage is fairy -tale - happily ever after type. You must become matured and real and rid yourself of what I call 'the marriage mirage'? what is that? Look out for my next blog as we shall be looking at 'the marriage mirage'. Until then: no matter where you are now: married or single, enjoy life Jesus has offered you, never allow any relationship issues rob you of life. Don't be bitter. Don't hold your life to a halt!
